In one study that was conducted in the New York City, functions of lungs improved once there was an increase in the levels of antioxidants. The antioxidants that made the best impact were vitamin E and beta cryptoxanthin which come from food such as almonds, pine nuts, sunflower seeds and dried apricots.

Antioxidants such as vitamin C help in the growth of hair. This is done by helping to maintain collagen or hair follicles connective tissues. It also protects cells that are in the blood vessels of the scalp in order to create healthy hair growth. You can either take vitamin C as a supplement or consumed in citrus fruits and other fruits.

It also keeps the skin healthy. Research shows that flavanoids that are found in green tea and some dark chocolates helps to prevent the skin from cancer and inflammation. One study indicated that women who were treated with green tea extract were more protected against negative exposure to sunlight as opposed to those who were not.


In order to increase the level of antioxidants in the body, you need to eat a lot of nuts, beans, vegetables and legumes. Fruits that are high in antioxidants are vibrant in color and it includes plumps, red cabbage, apples, sweet potatoes, nuts and dark chocolates in small quantities.
